You quoted the second part of the proposal but not the first:

I ask you, if you know something is divisive, why post it to Planet at
all? What's the motivation? It is pretty clear the posting about
religion to Planet is divisive. Years and years of arguing about this
very issue kind of proves it. Everyone involved that has been around for
years knows it, including the authors of the recent posts on religion.
I'm not sure why we have to do this dance over and over for years just
because a few people feel the need to keep posting to Planet about
religion. Can't they just post it to their blog but not send it to Planet?
