I have been meaning to respond to this particular mail in this thread for
sometime. Between a Swaminathan Aiyar, who sits in his cabin and theorises
on inclusive macro-economics and a P Sainath, who investigates exclusion of
whole communities from this growth on the field, I would - not being an
economist - tend to believe in the latter. This is not what the "left" would
have us believe - it is empirical reality. Some questions do pop up in my
mind about "communities" that are included in the growth the "exotic"
Sentinels of Andamans? would the sex-workers be included in the computation
of the economy - the musahirs?
Wondering as a non-economist
