As for font design, I would say pick one manuscript and base on that,

Actually I know that the great virtue of Beneventan manuscripts is the fact
that they agree perfectly to 99% among them, according to melody. Bv33 is
more accurate in rhythm, while Bv34 in diastematic references (C&F lines
are specified here). Personally, I think that we can consider as the
guideline for rhythmic indications Saint-Gall manuscripts, and choose Bv34
for first for Beneventan family (less neumes, 2 lines).
This is just an option to start.
No one forbid us in the future to create an encoding possibility for every
manuscript on earth! :)
