Thanks for the fast reply. Sorry if I am grumpy about this, but on my
other Mac applications, I do not see this type of update reminder that
appears in the upper right of the screen, as the Growl one does. It
is effective, but I also find it intrusive. If I click it to close
it, it just comes back and I have to go through a process like I am
now doing to figure out what is going on.

I understand your concerns about direct contact, but have experience
with this type of help bulletin board where I have to go through a
process of joining, etc. then posting my concern, then never seeing a
response. It is more complicated than just sending an email.
However, you monitor this discussion, so I appreciate the fast reply.

I have already uninstalled Growl mostly as a result of the unwanted
reminders. I was not aware you could turn them off until I received
your reply.

You might consider a gentler and less persistent way of reminding
about updates. I am not sure what that might be, but at least make a
way in the reminder box to permanently turn this off, rather than
having to find the control panel and turn it off there.
