I would consider them, but they are a bit spendy and
my luck with the old battery-powered hunting-type
winter mittens was not that good. I suppose it isn't
much more expensive than 2 sets of hot grips, though.
Speaking of which, I've been lookin at this whole
thing. The grip part of the hot grips is a hard
plastin, and I cannot imagine it would be very
comfortable after a long day riding. On the other
hand, the Kimpex inserts look like they might have 2
problems. First, their draw is more than the hot
grips' high and almost 2x as much as the hotgrips low
setting. Assuming relatively the same efficiency, the
Kimpex grips have got to be v. hot.
Second, I can't figure out how they are installed, as
the pictures are pretty rough. Do they go inside the
bars, or between the outside of the bar and the grip?
If it is the former, where do the wires come out
(since the GTS (and SV) bars are sealed at both ends)?
Finally, with the gloves, is a heat-troller required?
How do they connect? I have an electric vest, but not
a gerbing--would I have to run two pigtails from my
battery, or could I tap in to the vest somehow? And
do they work better than my old D-cell mittens?
TIA,
Adam
