I've wired my car for "UFO-landing" style lights so I'm familiar with the procedure, in the car I appropriated some nifty wire thanks to Raytheon Systems that they use in space on their satellites. 10gauge tefloncoated multistrand wires. They don't burn or rot from chemicals. Impervious to about anything. :)
Immense difference in lighting on the car, especially since I used French Cibie headlights to get the better E-code beam distribution. I assume the bikelenses are different in Europe too? Oh, my point? Yes, I would wire in relays and take proper precautions before I tried something like that.
