The protective value of your arm is significantly lower than the protective value of a vest; shooting through the arm and into the torso is perfectly practical with reasonably powerful pistol ammunition.
Aside from that, not sure really what the point would be. If you're wearing adequate body armor for the round being fired at you, reducing your profile is not all that important, since your main worry is being hit where the armor doesn't protect, not whether or not your (protected) torso is hit.
