In any case, this is a lot of effort to go through, just to enable a stance which is not clearly useful. There is some reason to believe that the isoceles stance produces superior accuracy under combat conditions, which easily makes up for the difference in target area.
The Isosceles is taking over from the Weaver or Modern/Modified Weaver for a couple reasons. One, it provides a very stable shooting platform. Two, you pivot with your hips and as you pivot both your gun and your line of sight pivot together along the same axis. Third, it's the basis for the current method of handling a carbine, SMG, shotgun. This common stance translates into more reps of common movement that can be applied across a spectrum uses.
If you look at the current gamers winning in IPSC and IDPA, you'll see a majority of them use the Isosceles with a couple using a Modern/Modified Weaver. Add body armor into the mix, and Isosceles becomes a much easier stance to get into as your off side arm isn't coming across your chest and thus won't be contacting your armor.
