GURPS. Although I think the growing hodgepodge of DnD 3.5 contributed. They'd got rather enthusiastic about D20 for a while, but then the shine wore off and things like PunPun really got to them.


I ask mostly because several die-hard DnD gamers I know have a strong dislike of 4th edition DnD. Having read through the rules, I don't blame them. It takes most of the role play and story fun out of the game.

Actually, 4e D&D has attracted them back to the fold for really brain dead games, basically as a sort of more detailed Munchkin type thing. Pure hacknslash, they'd do it while drunk if they drank. But they don't.


In any event, this sounds like a big win for 4th edition GURPS.
