Hello everybody, consider this setting:
* 3E TL12. Contragrav and reactionless thrusters are available. * Hyperdrive as per VE39, no minimum size, with high precision at least on insystem scales, time between hyperjumps is only limited by power cell recharges. * Hyperdrive emergence detectors allow the exact location of exiting ships, VXii18. * FTL radar from VE51, but there are FTL scan detectors, VXii18. * Force screens are segmented, with fast recovery. * Stealth from force screens is not cumulative with normal stealth. A 10k cf ship has a sensor signature of -10, a 100k cf ship is -8. A FTL radar with scan 64 is less than one ton, and it can detect any ship within several AU, assuming a skilled operator. A typical battle tactic for a ship with overloading screens would be to turn the segment away from the enemy. Against a single foe, this rotation keeps the segment out of fire for three turns out of every four, and fast recovery means it will shed three levels before it comes up again. Attackers need numbers to surround enemy ships. Would that discourage big ships?
