Ling Standard Products XV-7 Tracked ATV v1.0 (GURPS Traveller TL6) Copyright 2011 by Onno Meyer The XV-7 All-Terrain Vehicle is used on frontier worlds with a limited infrastructure. With wide tracks, the ATV can cross swamps, deserts, and ice or snow. The ATV has a cabin with two seats for the driver and the navigator, a small galley, an even smaller toilet, and ten bunks. During the day, the bunks are rearranged to create passenger seats. The ATV has an auxiliary power unit for the electronics, heating, and air conditioning, and many expeditions use it as the center of temporary camps. The XV-7 is cheap enough to leave it behind at the end of a survey, and more than one frontier settlement has grown around a 'permanently parked' ATV. At normal speed, the main engine burns 4.5 gallons of fuel per hour, and the APU requires 0.225 gallons. A full tank is $300 and lasts for roughly a week. Subassemblies: Body +5, two Tracks +4. The vehicle uses the design rules from Vehicles [second edition, third printing, December '09 errata], VXi and VXii (including the armor volume and massive motive subassembly rules) with the text format from Vehicles Lite. The Traveller rules affect the background and design choices, but not the technology of this vehicle.
