The story sofar:
The flaminica has sleighted someohow a roman noblewoman. (not inveted her
to a party or did not come to her party. I am open to other suggestions)
The noblewoman goes to her brother demanding he does something about that,
or else she tells father about his affair. (i am also here open to other
suggestions)
The brother first hires a trusted slave or client to train goats at a farm
close to rome, where the flamen will hold some service, most likely a
marrige, that they will get treats from someone who looks like the flamen.
That attempt will fail, if they are fast enough, due to the pcs, in other
cases otherwise.
The noblewoman will put more preassue on the brother and he will agree to
activate an other contact of his (he tells the name, but little else,,
which will be overheared by the pc on the roof.
The contact is a midwife, the brother had helped her, when the peasants in
her homevillage had attempted to punish her. (for botching the birth of
the chieftains son, or something similiar.)
She is able to blackmail a masseuse in a bath, to put some poison into the
massage-oil for the flaminica.
The poison was intended to give her a rash, or pimples or something of
that kind, but the midwife is not actually a master poisoner, and overdid
the dose, which kills off the flaminica.
It happened at a meeting of noble ladies in a bath, where all ordered
their own oil with special scents, and all of them did sniff at the others
oils. So there will be the noble ladies and their maids as suspects,
additionally to 3 masseuses, one (not the actual culprit) having a severe
rah on her hands. Along with the noble ladies will be someone close to
some pc, i have a short list.
Now some questions i still have:
Does anyone know anything about goattraining? Will it be easier to train
them to beg from someone, who wears clothes that look like flamen regalia,
or would it be better to put a scent on the flamens clothes? AFAIK apples
work as treats for goats, would there be something better?
(I am already commited to use goats, since i already have told the players
the tilte (carpae et alii terrores et doli))
Any idea for the poison? It should work by applying with massageoil, it
should lead to skin problems of some kind and be deadly in high dosages.
(though i can live with the flaminica having an accidental allergic
reaction, and the dosage would not have been deadly otherwise as well).
