And now to something completly different:
I have some components that do not make an adventure yet, and look for
ideas.
General Background:
The game is set in 90 AD in Rome, the pcs are prominent gladiators and
aurigae. While still slaves they do have quite a lot of money, and some
are shortly before their manumission. They might help out friends, perform
missions for money or favours, but sofar they have shown little interest
in committing themselfs to cults, causes or conspiracies.
Their owners follow a policy of getting along with everyone, having low
ambitions regarding business and none about politics. In short they come
close to the epicurean ideal.
The campain has some slight magic, according to vodoo rules, but mostly it
is mundane
Now what do i have:
In preperation for a future adventure i want the current flamen dialis
removed from his office. My preferred way would be to utilize the many
restrictions* he has and have an elderly chap, in a funny outfit (for
a pc less knolageable about roman culture) flee from a horde of dogs,
goats or horses, that chase him because someone has put some smell on his
clothes or a similiar reasons. I don't know for sure if being touched by
one of theese animals, actually counts as him touching them, and if that
would be a reason for dismissing him, but unless i find anything other, i
go with it.
Other then the slapstick scene, i have no good idea how to involve the pcs
yet.
I am also open to other methods of removing the flamen, (i can most likely
still use the slapstick scene as earlier failed attempt)
I have not yet any fixed ideas about the character of the flamen, he also
has not apeared in the campain yet, or who wants to remove him and for
what reason.
I also have an other intrigue without a cause in store. Hire one of the
pcs for something (bodyguard duty or similiar) and have him wait in some
room. Get a vestaline virgin to wait in the adjectant room for some other
reason. Lock them in for a while and then have someone accuse them of
having had sex. (the joke is that this particular pc is an eunuch, but has
sofar kept that as secret)
Again i have no whos and whys yet.
I also have a good chance to get one pc on the roof of a patrician villa
at night (for romantic reasons), where she could overhear something. I
definitly would like to have something connected with the rest of the
adventure happen on that roof.
Howver conspirering in the night in your yard, where your slaves might
hear you seems to be a rather dumb thing to do. Still some conspirators
might be amateurs. Or the informations given there might be inconspicious
in themselfs, and you need other puzzle peaces to put them together.
