I'm using GVB and sometimes it does things ... oddly. I know it does not 
correctly handle component armor, for example.

I'm not using armor volume now, but for a better direct comparison perhaps I 
should.

I'm using ST 30-40 cheap arm motors on most of the battlesuits.

I'm talking about for the fire support vehicle, not to replace the battlesuits. 
Perhaps a lightly armed walker as a supply or recovery vehicle.

I would not fire a 200mm mortar inside a building ...

I don't know if I'd ever have the support suit go into a building, unless the 
floors were specially reinforced (like a starport, warehouse or fortress).

Pod or put the gun in the body. Feeding to the arm is hard to visualize for a 
large caliber.
