I'm using GVB and sometimes it does things ... oddly. I know it does not correctly handle component armor, for example. I'm not using armor volume now, but for a better direct comparison perhaps I should. I'm using ST 30-40 cheap arm motors on most of the battlesuits. >> I wonder if fire support/artillery might be better modeled as 4-legged >> mecha. It would seem to be a more stable platform, for one thing. > > A four-legged vehicle wouldn't be form-fitting. Going to a cramped > crew station increases the volume quite a lot. I'm talking about for the fire support vehicle, not to replace the battlesuits. Perhaps a lightly armed walker as a supply or recovery vehicle. > Human buildings and stations are for bipeds. I don't know if I'd ever have the support suit go into a building, unless the floors were specially reinforced (like a starport, warehouse or fortress). > Is there a way to visualize a feed mechanism for 200mm shells from > the body to a forearm-mounted railgun or is a turret/pod-mounted > gun the only choice? Pod or put the gun in the body. Feeding to the arm is hard to visualize for a large caliber.
