If I'm in an environment that's so lethal that the car doesn't matter and I can expect to be detected anyway...that sort of negates the whole purpose of hiding behind it. --- Reminds me of working out the implications of some high TL weapons years ago. I think it was disruptors. You really can't take cover because the weapon can go right through a quarter mile of solid rock.
