This is a dead horse. The only thing is, every time we beeat it, a
jiant pretitor erupts from the body and begins mowing down on the
populous.
Working for companies that sell both, I have to say, there's no money
in selling jaws, because by the time it gets to a small access
technology vender, the markup is so small that it all gets blown away
sending technicians to the clients house to troubleshoot video
intersept and activation manager issues. That's no joke either.
Then take into account the abominable lack of support from the
company, the rediculously high price point and useage restrictions,
and some other factors, and you have a product in jaws that is
grulingly unpleasant to sell, support, and train on.
Many people love jaws. That's OK. I am not one of them. Most of my
clients don't need the power of jaws or window-eyes, and would be much
better off with something lower end and lower cost. There's also a
misguided perseption that jaws is better because more people use it,
which I find extremely irritating. Most people do not care which
screen reader is better. They buy what their vendor and authorizer
tell them to buy, and of course, that usually means jaws because of
old habbit and the fact that jaws is the most expensive, meaning they
get to bill higher. No one tries different screen readers and finds
out what their strengths and weeknesses are, and why does an 80 year
old lady need a $1300 piece of access technology to read her email
anyway? Overall though, I think window-eyes is best in it's class,
and I've used a bunch. WE just always seems to do whatever I need it
to do. It's hardware support blows jaws away. The polacies of the
company behind it favour the customer rather than bullying both
customers and resellers. If you are starting out or looking to switch
off to something, then WE is a very good bet.

Some say that window eyes is a million times better than JFW, some

(and I mean everybody) think about this one?
