Exactly the kind of thing I'm talking about.

There's a whole market which has grown up around these kinds of cleaning apps, making people think they're computers are going to run better if they do this or that,
and unless you are very technical,
and understand what's up, you will often fix one thing, butbreak something else.

Most of the time with tweaking internet settings and such, or cleaning temp files, you won't do any lasting damage, but the registry is the achiles heel of windows.

Mess that up, and your in trouble.

So my registry edits are very conservative.
and very specific to a function.

Because, my friends, there is no way a general purpose registry clean can know what belongs to what ahead of time,
because there aren't always log files,
and apps can be written all different kinds of ways
and there are just too many dependancies.

It is not for no reason that microsoft doesn't recommend registry cleaners.

Disk Image your system when things are running right,
and you'll always be able to go back to a good place.

One thing I've noticed with regscrub and perhaps others is that it screws up adobe flash so I can't get baseball. I have to reinstall it.

John,

I have used several registry cleaners in the past, but the one I'm using
currently is CCleaner. It works well with W E, and it will optimize your
harddisk too.

Subject: Accessible Windows 7 Registry Cleaner

Hello all,

I would like to run a registry cleaner on my Windows 7 PC.
There seems to be a great many out there, without any indication of
accessibility on them.
It is too important, to me, to run something like this on my PC and then
find I cannot read the information on it.

Can I please have a recommendation of an accessible Windows 7 registry
cleaner?

Many thanks in advance.
