I was referring to the article in Access World where they interviewed the
two owners of GWMicro and AISquared. Maybe I haven't read all the blogs but
the ones I have read have no real facts to back up their opinions. My
objection to this thread is it is spreading fear and rumors when no one
knows for sure what is happening behind the sceans. Mr. W of GWMicro plainly
said that Window Eyes would be around in the future. If that means it will
be part of Windows, that would be great..

kHi Loy,
I genuinly don't mean to be rude, but are you sure you read the same
bloggs as I did. The writer clearly states that the new Narrator with
windows ten will kill all the screen readers including Window-eyes, NVDA
and Jaws. My thoughts are, did GWMicro give Window-eyes to Microsoft? We
don't know what went on behind closed doors. My fear is that Window-eyes
may well become the new Narrator.
I know that the two writers are clearly biast regarding NVDA. For a time I
thought the stories were so similar, they were the same people.
At this point, there is only speculation, conjecture and conspiracy
theories. Sometimes I think that these people get stuck advokating a
program, they can't see past their noses. I have used Window-eyes for over
315 years. I did try Jaws but didn't like it at all. It felt very wrong.
I also thought there would be some kind of statement from gw micro
regarding this subject about it's future. Sorry A squared.
I try to keep a balanced view with my own personal knowledge thrown in for
additional support. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I genuinly
think window-eyes users are anxious, worried and concerned about the
future of their favourite product. I certainly amm.
Again Loy, I wish you absolutly no malice or hatred in any way whatsoever.
I would rather be your friend than enemy. It is a discussion where fears
are expressed about our future screen reader.
What do we do if as is suggested that narrator is as good as window-eyes
or in fact is window-eyes in essence. I know that a merger with gw micro
and a squared ensres employment for the people at gw micro. Perhaps they
too saw the future of screen readers and narrator. I'm not saying they
jumped ship. They may have done what all of us would have and that ia to
secure ajob for themselves.
In a way it makes sense that if narrator is to be as suggested as good as
window-eyes, jaws, nvda then no one will pay the money for them as they
will be defunct, a part of history.
When I read those bloggs, it did scare me honestly. What also puzzled me
was that the writers stated they knew very little about window-eyes but
proceded to discredit it. I was amused by that.
Loy please accept my apologies if this email appears to you in any way but
genuine and sincere. There is no malice towards you in any way whatsoever.
You like everyone is entitled to your opinion and I respect that very
much.
Live long andprosper, John

Vaughan, The article with the two owners, was not silent at all and was
very informative. I think they stated very clearly that Window Eyes will
still be around.
So why keep this negative speculations and rumors spreading.-----

If you want to panic, go right ahead. If WE takes a hit, what are you
going to do about it? Do you think that FS will give ex-WE users a
steep rake-off? It seems to me that the whole discussion is a time
waster. If there's a new product, you'll find out when there's a
notification. If not, what is this thread going to accomplish? You can
always either buy something else or keep using what you have until MS
obsoletes it.

Subject: The Silence is deafening
Greetings.
Payig customers deserve some dialogue from AI Squared regarding the
current and future status of Window-eyes.
Serious allegations have been made: most notably that the industry is
claiming that GW Micro is bankrupt.
As a creditor, due to the fact that I have a SMA, I am entitled to
request that I am refunded through a court process. How this works
across international boundaries, and when in fact the amount is very
small, is beyond my comprehension.
Here is what I think.
GW did not go bankrupt. But: it needed capital injections to contyinue
the develoment of Window-eyes against seeming unsurmountable odds.
AI Squared will treat Window-eyes has a side line to
Zoomtext, and perhaps it would wish that these people who rely on
synthetic speech and braille would just go away.
Not for the first time I wonder where Mr Wu is - why has he not
communicated with Window-eyes owners? Why does it seem that senior
employees are not wishing to respond to the growing speculation that
Window-eyes is no longer a truly serious contender in the screen reader
market? Is their muzzling at the very top levels of AI Squared? Why
is it - that if there is no longer to be a Window-eyes, we weren't told
so that we are left to feed on our own speculation?
Just so that we try and keep the discussion on a professional and
civilised basis: Ppople are entitled to move out of their business
ventures. Peopple are entitled to say "I don't want to do this
anymore" but the customer relationship is with a new company, whose
communications with us is appalling.
One of the things which AI Squared inherited is GW Micro's customer
good will. On the evidence to date - that has been trashed: it clearly
was not part of the buy-out price?
The old GW Micro had a proud reputation for first class customer
support. This list reflected customer passion for Window-eyes. Services
like ACB Radio used to enable GW representatives to explain
developments with Window-eyes.
If users like me are generating damage on this list - imagine what is
happening on social networking? And if the damage is widespread - what
steps are being taken to put out the fire?
Vaughan.
