Hi Karli,

Thanks for the exact link, that helps a lot.

First of all I'm using dsl here so have a reasonably fast connection to the
internet and I'm connecting the braillesense plus using wireless.

I went to the link you provided and the page did load. I followed a couple of
links and was able to use the backspace p command to go back to the previous
page and tried it a couple of different times successfully.

The one thing I really noticed about this whole site is how slowly it loads
with the braillesense.

It really is one of the slowest pages for loading I've seen, and the same held
true with using the backspace p command.

If you're using a dialup connection, you might want to consider going out for
dinner and taking in a show while the page loads. <smile.

My guess is that it has something to do with the very large number of links and
such on the page, but that's only a guess.

Don't be nervous about using the web browser as you can't hurt anything. The
worst that might happen is that it can lock up on some pages and you'll have to
do a reset, but if the browser is all you have open, you really won't loose any
data.

Maybe Raul will have some thoughts on this.

Hope this helps,

Don

  Hi Don and Mike,

Don. Sorry for not getting back to you earlier. The address of the page I
used was http://news.google.ca/nwshp?hl=en&tab=wn
From there, I clicked on a news story in the top stories portion of the page.
After reading the article, I then pressed backspace p to go to the previous
page, and that's when the unit would freeze up and just display "loading page"
until I press the reset button. I am nervous about trying to use the web
browser program anymore because I don't know what other problems will come up.
Thus far, I noticed that pages load very slowly, sometimes its tricky to read
information because the braille sense seems to have problems reading line by
line without repeating itself, and of course because the unit freezes up with a
simple command as "go to previous page".
Mike, thanks for your insite. I'm sorry you feel that I am overreacting
because my braille sense has been behaving strangely. Its just that here in
Canada, a braille sense plus costs almost $8000, so it's only natural for me to
want to know whether my unit is deffective or the problems I mentioned are
common for these types of braille notetakers. Thanks again to both of you for
your comments and suggestions. I would truly appreciate any insite you may
have on using the braille sense's web browser program.

  Cheers
  Karli

    Karli,

What link did you use to get to the google news page?

I tried www.google.com/news and when I clicked on a story the bs tried to
download a file rather than go directly to a news article.

      Hi,

On my second attempt at the google news web page, my braille sense plus
again locked up when I pressed backspace p to go back to the previous page.
Immediately after I pressed backspace p, the braile displayed showed "loading
page", and stayed that way until I pressed the reset button; nothing else
worked including the power button. Could one of you please try that command
after clicking on a news story to see if the same thing happens. I am really
concerned that my unit is deffective; I had the memory stick problem before as
well. Also, is it normal for the unit to repeat by voice and braille display
parts of lines until one reads work by word with the space 2 or space 5
command? It just seems to be a pretty tedious way of accessing the internet if
it is normal for the braille sense to function that way. Any help with regard
to using the web browser program would be greatly appreciated. I was really
hoping to use my unit for the internet but so far had not had a very good
experience.

      Karli
