Don't use pleating tape, the pleats end up being only about 1/2" deep, so there are a lot of them to sew. And the tape adds a lot of bulk. Instead make a facing with 1/4" gingham. That way you can easily make even pleats, using the gingham as a guide. I like making pleats 1" deep. Quick whip stitches and you're done! Ohhhh, what a cool idea! If I ever DO decide to do this. . . . And for those who ARE going to! Similar to when my grandmother showed me how to do smocking with gingham.
