He asked for something that types Vietnamese, and works, because unikey isn't quite working. He did not mention on inputting other languages. So I was like, here you go... xvnkb, it works, and it works well. I agree if you want something versatile, universal, you would need something else. The philosophy works for me the same way it works for non-technical users, and I believe that is the way it should be for everyone. Something on the horizon isn't as practical as something is good right now. You can test it, develop it, but if it's in beta quality, like whatever ibus thing is, I wouldn't recommend to anyone. Same thing to KDE. It will be excellent and I can see it, but I wouldn't recommend the KDE 4 crap to my friends. Use GNOME for now. Let me test KDE 4. When it's good enough I will let you know and I will recommend to you. I'm not really interested in making a test suite for all Vietnamese typing program but I think it would be nice to have a test suite that simulates different cases for Vietnamese keyboard like how the user input and how should the output be, like speed, input methods, et cetera, so the developer can test if their input method program is good enough. When I'm really bored I can do that. With me scim - at least with whatever state of m17n-vietnamese now - it is just crap. For a reason or another I can't type really fast on that, or I will be making mistakes.
