I'd be glad to lend you my bombarde or my Valencian dulzaina so you can
check out if you have what it takes. (they are not capped reed, but it will
give you an idea of the force you need to blow). Just promise me you'll
insist to that huge dog of yours that they are NOT, repeat NOT chew
toys.....

Well, MY problem is that I heard somebody playing a "natural" French
Horn on the classical station yesterday, and am enchanted. It wasn't
harsh at all, but quite sweet...and seems to me like a champion fanfare
intrument. Woodwinds are OK , is guess, if they have a lot of drones on
them, but..... Anyway, seems to me like if you have the lip and are
planning to plop down a lot of lucre of something arcane and ...well,
um, ..."period" ... that would be worth looking into.
Ok I admit I do play A Dorian tunes on a G tabor pipe, sometimes, but
not if anybody is actually likely to catch me at it...
