I have a bombarde (retired) and have never had the puff to play it for more
than a few notes.
It's a shame they don't make 'em bellows-blown (grin).
I can play clarinet (a little) but I never realised just how much effort was
taken to play. Mind you, a hernia of the diaphragm doesn't help but at least
that doesn't affect HG playing.
I too have always loved the sound of these instruments (since getting the
David Munrow box set when it came out).
Does a Crumhorn take as much? I have seem them extolled as the perfect
school instrument as they are "so easy to play and much simpler than the
recorder" and have always hankered after one for the last 30 years.
Don't want another instrument kept in it's box though!
