Valve is a vendor. We, as legally-purchased license holders, are customers. Marketing 101 says 'the customer is always right'. Now, obviously that needs to be taken in context, but the moment we feel 'lucky' to be 'allowed' to use the product as advertised is when we lose all leverage as the legitimate customer base. Valve needs to be held accountable, just as any vendor needs to be held accountable. If I changed code in my deliverables that clients relied on for backwards compatibility without advanced notice or legitimate justification, and THEN reacted to questions and concerns with indifference (and I'm not saying Valve is, I'm just making a point), I'd lose customers very, very fast. _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlcoders
