I'm not sure if it's coincidence or not, but since updating Steam to the
latest release today I haven't been able to successfully start a listen
server for any game. Did you guys release a debug build of Steam.exe on
accident?
I'm seeing the following debug assertion dialog:
Debug Assertion Failed
Program: H:\Steam\Steam.exe
File: Src\EngineClientConnection.cpp
Line: 1178
False
(Press Retry to debug the application-JIT debugging must be enabled)
If I choose 'Abort' from the assertion dialog, the following is written to
the console:
SteamGetEncryptedUserIDTicked failed (4)
reason--
The behavior is the same when I run Steam offline (unplugging myself from
the LAN). The value of "sv_lan" is "1" in my listenserver.cfg file. Steam
appears to be shutting itself down in the background after it hits the
assertion.
At the suggestion of members of the steam forums, I've tried regrabbing
platform.gcf, but that didn't fix the problem.
