I assume that the EP2 sdk will be able to be used by people without EP2
(I can't run it because of my system specs).
Also, could you possibly make a feature to make shortcuts of SDK
programs for certain games (I.e. make a shortcut to open hammer or model
viewer for CS:S), even if you don't have that game selected in the sdk
window.
Cheers

The post-Ep2 SDK will be released much sooner than the the post-Ep1 SDK

one of my top priorities once Ep2 goes gold.

[ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] I know its still a fair
way off, but how long after Ep2 can we expect the SDK update? I think I
speak for everyone when I say that we don't want to be waiting for
another 430 days in between major updates.

Hi Adam (and everyone)-
We do not have any significant changes to the water system coming up
for
Ep2 and, therefore, not in the SDK that will come out after Ep2 ships.
That version of the SDK will have updates to the SDK water shaders,
but not the kind of sweeping changes you were hoping for.
Regarding the tools: the SDK release after Ep2 ships will contain
updates to existing tools as well as *some* new tools that have made
our lives easier. We have noticed that other studios have made some
very nice tools and we will continue to improve ours. We'll talk more
about the new tools and enhancements to existing ones when the
post-Ep2 SDK ships.

Dear Mike Durand,
Is there any chance that Valve is going update the
water system for hl2? I don't mean to sound pretentious but the
current hl2 water system using flat bump mapped water is somewhat
outdated and it would be nice to see some vertex deforming water for
the source engine in the next SDK update even if it's not released as
part of ep2. Seems like most of the new engines such as Crysis and
what I've been seeing for Allen wake have it..I wonder also what Valve
are doing to update the tools for the SDK so keep up with the
competition ...I don't want to step on your toes..I love the source
SDK but I would also like to see some big changes.thanks
