Have you checked grenade_satchel.h/.cpp to make sure the first line isn't messed up somehow? I know you said you don't use SVN but the first thing that comes to my mind with an error being reported on line 1 is that something edited your file and placed some garbage on the first line (like SVN does to a file when the file is conflicted).
