Oh, and almost forgot.
The other reason we chose to abandon VALVe and Source 2 engine.
Since 2004 VALVe has steadily dropped the ball when it comes to Development.

Its current engine.
Source 2.
Is a 9 year old game engine, with a bloated dual rendering engine system.

It has been heavily scripted. With some of the worst programming I have
ever seen.
Using multiple " Programming Syntax Languages ".
C+, Python, LuaJIT just to name a few.

If you decompile the engine, and game executables you will see the same
thing.
I used HxD myself. A good Hex / Machine Assembly Decompiler.

However, to not take away from the main topic of my response.

The Source 2 Engine really isnt that good for development.
Its already " obsolete " far as engines go ( Rendering/Game/Physics ).
Has many bloated, scripted functions that really arent well thought out,
nor programmed very well.

There are also already a plethora of well built modernized engines out
there.
As well as Talented Professionals who can easily Develop a new engine /
product.

That said.

Trying to port anything legacy into CSGO2.
You will run into the same problems the CSGO2 Dev Team are encountering
right now.
Especially with their Environments they tried to port from CSGO_legacy.
Best of luck with it.
