QA is very very expensive. I've seen companies spend millions of dollars
testing their product to ensure it is essentially defect free. Small shops
don't always have the resources to do this, and all too often don't even
know how to go about conducting a large scale QA project. To make things yet
worse, Steam is a platform that encourages sloppy QA. Find a bug? No
problem - we don't have to burn a half a million CDs and ship them out, we
just push the fix out on Steam in the morning.
