There's a big difference between fracturing and diversity. With sv_tags
players can see exactly how a server is run and find one that suits their
taste. If there is anything that will strangle the life out of the
community its forcing conformity on everyone.

I do. I understand people's frustration with it, but I think all the
customizations like no-crit just fracture the community, which is a
bad thing.

Oh I forgot to ask.

Is there a single server operator who likes the custom tab?

I have to agree. As a plugin author, I was anticipating the sv_tags
addition so that users could easily filter for my plugins. As it has
been
implemented, it is meaningless because the server admins become upset if
the
plugin adds tags and moves them to the custom tab.

I don't know the solution, but I hope we can find a compromise that
makes
Valve happy and still allows plugin authors to identify the server as
not
 "vanilla."
