It will be pointless as long as there is incentive for plugins to not add tags (like now).
If all tags are used for is filtering/searching and the servers are on one tab, then plugins that modify any aspect of the ngame would be likely to add a tag so players that enjoy the plugin can find the server. Then there would be no more CSSDM or ZM cluttering up the server name (which was the reason Valve gave for implementing sv_tags in the first place.
