Thanks.  I'm a little confused by how the mods will work.

The FAQ says:

"If you want to add a mod after installing Steam, you need only to put it in
the Steam/SteamApps/your_email_address/Half-Life directory. The next time
you open the "My Games" list it will be listed under "Third Party Games."

If I launch Half-Life normally, "hl.exe" is in a completely different
directory than Steam.  If the mods are actually installed into the
"Steam/SteamApps..." directory, are you saying that "hl.exe" will actually
know to load the client.dll for the mod from the Steam directory?

Or is the step mentioned in the FAQ only if you want the mod to show up in
the Steam game browswer?

You can run just like before (i.e run hl.exe). This will cause steam.exe to
spawn and then launch the game, but this will be transparent to you.
