Awhile back someone commented about this -- I thought it used to be
l4d_demo to download the demo files.

When they were getting ready to release, to avoid confusion, I think
they created left4dead and l4d_full -- I think l4d_full is just an
alias for left4dead, as the demo is now gone.

I think they gave us l4d_full first (it's been too long now haha), so
we could pre-load the servers -- when it released they enabled
left4dead which gave everything -- I believe they are now the same
content.

That's my opinion on it -- I haven't spent much time looking into it,
though.  Doing this from what I remember seeing on the listserv.
