The only thing you seem to suggest is giving clients an option to opt out of

It is different from "anything else"
Particularly because (as I've pointed out already when presented with
exactly the same "leave the server" response in the first reply in this
thread coloured text is not game changing.
Here's a clue Frank, if someone else says 'A' and I reply with 'B', it
won't make any difference to my reply if you say 'A'. Not even if you
say it twice :-)
Besides last week the mailing list had plenty of tears and gnashing of
teeth at having empty servers. Blaming Valve and quickplay. Perhaps you
should consider if the only advice you ever manage to come up with
amongst yourselves is "uninstall TF2" or "play on another server" then
it's no wonder everyone has :-)
I know last week we trying to kid ourselves that by using the in game
browser to find a server we were all hyper-intelligent pan beings, but
now you've gone too far the other way. Do you really think saying "you
can leave a server" is giving useful advice? I'm trying to figure
whether you're stupid and you think that would be useful knowledge or if
you just assume everyone else but you is stupid?
Whatever, please just piss off with the "You can uninstall TF2" "You can
leave the server" BS.
If it were a game changing mod or plugin, I'd leave the server. Indeed,
if it's a minority of servers I may still do - I'm not suggesting Valve
remove the change server option.
But, as it isn't game changing, the better solution would be simply to
have a client option to disable the colours if Valve choose to provide one.
