Michael,

I second the gold/silver paint pen if you are talking about signing on
the photo itself. I've used this in the past on inkjet prints and it
seemed to work out OK.
These days I personally just sign in the margin outside the print area
using a black archival ink pen
du jour (Lately I've just been using a sharpie for this - I almost
always mat over it so its not seen anyway + I realized that if the image
itself isn't going to stand up to
bright sunlight, why should the signature be much better...). I've also
heard of people putting the signature on a layer and just printing it.

Its really funny how the "archival" nature of images has changed - it
used to be that it came down to how long the image would last when
stored someplace dark, since
that was the big bugaboo with all that crap color paper/film that Kodak
was putting out over the years that just faded of its own accord, and
now everybody expects
images to be able to stand up to 200 years of direct sunlight at the
equator, just like a b/w print (might) be able to (and no color
photographic print ever could).

Best,

rkg
