The state agency where I work includes the state archives and the state museum, and I've been there 25 years, so I've pretty much lived through all the archival bugaboo, and I've had plenty of arguments with archivists about the meaning of "archival." They act like black and white prints, because they are still around, are acrhival, and I tell them that those prints sure don;t look the way they did the day they were printed, so how archival is that?<g> They also don't like digital, using the same old tired argument about "being able to read those disks and files 20 years from now." I remind them that you simply migrate to the next storage medium, and you continue to have perfect copies of your files. If you don't migrate, that's called "editing." :) If you didn't move those files from the 5.25" floppy to a hard drive, they apparently weren't important to you, right?
