We have to send in the printer receipt every time we have warranty work
done, and yes it starts the day you buy the printer.

Sad to hear them say that about the warranty. Irrespective of how long
your supplier had it in the warehouse, your warranty starts the moment
you pay for it. Simple.

After having to have the formatter card replaced I now have to have
the motherboard changed out. The reason is that it will not access the
paper functions. I can't profile new papers. I wish that HP would buy
this thing back. When it prints it is just awesome, but it seems every
few weeks that I have an issue that keeps me from printing when i need
it. One issue that reared it's ugly head was the warranty, they told
me that since the supplier had it in it's warehouse that the effective
date for the start of the warranty period began at that time. After
some talking to the tech I was told that I needed to send in a copy of
the purchase receipt and they would update my warranty status. Sorry
for the rant but thought it might be helpful to someone facing similar
problems.
