Got a couple of hours of BBA work done on the block adjacent to (BUT NOT
INCLUDING) the Bradgate Access west of Rutland. I was walking the trail
where it interesects Florida Avenue when I was quite delighted to pick up
a couple of new species for my Humboldt Co. Species list (I picked up
another at the Bradgate Access Great-crested Flycatcher). One species was
an experience with at least two Yellow-billed Cuckoos, (one I saw and one
that I heard further east from where I saw the other, the first flew west
towards the river). The second was a pair of Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers
working a tree about three feet from where the seen cuckoo had been. The
sapsuckers were also supplemented by a female Ruby-throated Hummingbird
who was tagging along behind them as they worked the tree.

Also of note for the trail were several Indigo Buntings, some Lark
Sparrows, many many many Common Yellowthroats (living up to their name).

I also picked up a Vesper Sparrow driving the road and a lot of
Dickcissels.
