Poor shorebird showings though that's expected with the diminishing
sheetwaters. However there was a large fallout of Swainson's Thrushes in
some places as many as a dozen were observed and I easily saw twenty in
the riparian forest area in W. Humboldt Co. There was also a nice showing
of warblers with Wilsons, Yellow, Yellow-rumped Palm, Magnolia,
Black-and-white, Chestnut-sided and Blackpoll Warblers making showings as
well as Common Yellowthroat. Lark Sparrows were also seen today and a
singled Barred Owl along the Des Moines River. An male Orchard Oriole was
seen near Bradgate (but the Prothonatory Warblers were not though I didn't
have a lot of time to search effectively).
