I spent this morning doing some BBA work in Humboldt County, and also checking
sheetwater for migrant shorebirds. Here is what I found in flooded fields:

many Mallards (mostly molting males)
11 Blue-winged Teal
5 Pied-billed Grebe
1 Sora
3 Semipalmated Plover
269 Killdeer
6 Spotted Sandpiper
12 Solitary Sandpiper
3 Greater Yellowlegs
118 Lesser Yellowlegs
1 Upland Sandpiper
2 Semipalmated Sandpiper
40 Least Sandpiper
69 Pectoral Sandpiper
16 Stilt Sandpiper
4 Short-billed Dowitcher
1 Long-billed Dowitcher (a calling adult seen well)
1 Wilson's Phalarope
1 Black Tern

Other birds:
1 worn first-alternate Bonaparte's Gull and 1 Black-billed Cuckoo (my first of
the year) at Little Wall Lake
2 Forster's Terns each at Brushy Creek and Little Wall Lake
1 female Yellow-bellied Sapsucker in BBA block 214

Yesterday evening I found a Hooded Merganser brood in sheetwater near our
house. The young couldn't have been more than a day or two old.
