Had a push of Harris' Sparrows today in the backyard, accompanied by a
group of Chipping Sparrows and Juncos.

The Potholes are dominated by coots currently, surprisingly no flocks of
geese or ducks were noted (though there is an entrenchment of Canada Geese
on top of the dam at Lake Nokomis though those are probably the usual
resident geese, but I should probably start looking for those hybrid geese
as they tend to show up in winter below the dam under the bridge on the
west side of Main Street Humboldt). I flushed a female harrier at the
Potholes which then flushed a Wilson's Snipe which was probably the best
bird of the day. Other than that lots of Savannah Sparrows and maybe one
Grasshopper Sparrow...and more Harris' Sparrows.

It's a pity there are no Snowy Owls about as now there are perfect
stationing spots across the county, lots of bales in the fields.
