Scientific bent. IIRC there were several SHARE presentations and Bill  
Butterworth of GMR was President of SHARE. Also I remember a fascinating  
presentation from UCLA where the Prof was modeling plasma dynamics and cranking 
 some 
large numbers with VF on 600J. I thought it was available on 3081 way back  
when. Amdahl had a special Fortran subroutine library for it and again it's 
been  
so long there was an EISPACK w/vector and w/o. Then the big RS6000's started 
to  hit the street and they were superior at scientific processing at fractions 
of  the cost.
