Scientific bent. IIRC there were several SHARE presentations and Bill
Butterworth of GMR was President of SHARE. Also I remember a
fascinating
presentation from UCLA where the Prof was modeling plasma dynamics
and cranking some
large numbers with VF on 600J. I thought it was available on 3081
way back
when. Amdahl had a special Fortran subroutine library for it and
again it's been
so long there was an EISPACK w/vector and w/o. Then the big
RS6000's started
to hit the street and they were superior at scientific processing
at fractions
of the cost.
Not to go on memory lane (again) but IIRC there were fortran
"libraries" that were used for various "V" facilities. I only vaguely
looking for some specific fortran libraries at the time we were
converting from an outside TS system for a user. IIIRC it was NCSS
and they had some slick fortran subroutines. Well its been over 30
years and I have forgotten a lot about the beast.
