IIRC Resolve was a separate piece of softwarexcel which in realistic terms is IBMLINK access. Depending on what SoftwareXcel subscriptions you have you get different selections on your IBMLINK main menu. Alert gave you AST and ASAP Resolve gave you SIS PSP and most of the good stuff Another level gave you ASKQ (for non defect questions) and a way of getting priority response.
For some reason this is usually bundled in with hardware maint contract although you can get it separate (make sure you're not paying twice). Fees are by number if ID's and the priority response is/was extremely expensive. Last time we looked at it we cut $200K per year out without any noticeable effect. -----Original Message----- From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Longnecker, Dennis Sent: Thursday, March 05, 2009 12:00 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [IBM-MAIN] S/390 Resolve In the 1980's and 1990's if we wanted the ability to access IBM's support center online, we had to pay extra and subscribe to something called S/390 Resolve. We had to pay extra for every user that wanted it. We could call in for free, but if we wanted online access, it was extra. In the 2000's I am still getting these bills. Is this still the norm with IBM; that is if you want online access to PMR's and SIS you need to pay extra? In today's model, it seems backwards and they would charge extra for using the phone and using online should be free.
