By the way, despite I still need native support of the individual IM
shortcuts in ibus, right now I am using the workaround, proposed in #19 and
#20.
In XFCE, Settings > Keyboard > Application Shortcuts, I defined the
following shortcuts:
<Alt>+1 : ibus engine xkb:us::eng
<Alt>+2 : ibus engine m17n:ru:kbd
<Alt>+3 : ibus engine anthy
This, in fact, is a functionality we all asking for: specific engine (in my
case, they are English, Russian, and Japanese) can be enabled with a single
hit.
Disadvantages:
1) At least in XFCE, focus is lost for a moment during the engine switch by
hotkey. This can interfere with some applications.
2) Configuration depends on window manager and is not simple for beginners.
