Comment #7 on issue 1659 by takao.fujiwara1: ibus-ui-gtk3 should show local
modes of active engines as GNOME does
http://code.google.com/p/ibus/issues/detail?id=1659
Well, multiple xkb engines users also cannot see a current layout as
anthy users cannot see a current local input mode.
I'm not fun to show the static data on property panel. The main purpose is
to show the current mode on the dynamic property data.
I think it's a cost to show property panel just for the engine name in xkb
engines.
I think you can show the current XKB engine name with Super + space.
It may be time to try to draw strings on panel status icon again.
We soon start to move the cursor to the line with the error by pressing
the up/down key, right? While moving the cursor, we can not see the text
under the panel for a while. The panel also moves, following the cursor.
Since property panel moves following the cursor, I think we can see the
text when you press the up/down key.
Do you think the milliseconds between when you press the up/down key and
when the panel follows the position?
If you think to look at the multiple lines in text, I think your problem
cannot be fixed when the property panel is always shown with the option of
ibus-setup.
I wonder how often this use case happens.
I'm thinking it sometimes can happen when users know a shortcut key in one
property but don't know shortcut keys in other properties.
For that situation, the time until the panel disappears might be too
short. I guess users changes the input mode by the status icon.
If users mouse action would be slow, they could press Zenkaku_Hankaku x 2
and show the panel again.
Now I'm thinking which the right bottom of the input cursor or the left
bottom of the input window is better.
I confirmed the input window position works fine with my test while valac
has a bug.
