Hmm. Starboard is non-fiber reinforced plastic. I'm not a fan of using it in 
primary load paths.  It is susceptible to creep, which is slow movement under 
exposure to sustained load and temperature. The major difference between it and 
other plastics is UV resistance.  Now it's done, but every so often I would 
check the tension on the mounting hardware.

I have a "Catalina Friend" at the Annapolis West Marine store, Julian. He is 
former Catalina 27 owner/racer and is very knowledgeable about all things Cat 
27. Julian suggested I use Starboard, a marine substitute. It is basically a 
plastic sheet, that combined with over size flat washers.

aluminum or did you epoxy in some wood?
