Very well put.  8 years of point-n-click experience (if that is what
you are talking about)  is no, I repeat,  no experience at all.  You
are probably just as  good as the blonde  (no offence to any blondes
on the list) next door  trying to use liquid  paper on her  monitor.
On the other hand, if all of those 8 years have been on Unix or like
systems, and still you cannot get your  X working or at least figure
out why  it is   not working, I  would  say  that you  have bluffing
yourself all of those 8 damn  years and you  are seriously in a very
sorry state.
