Good points. Let us sit down (virtually, perhaps) and give ourselves a
constitution: "We the LUGgers... " and so on!

When the list was smaller, the members could sort out any issue with the
exchange of a few messages, much like people do at a village panchayat.
The need for a formal set of rules was not felt. Now that the list is
growing, as the LUG is attempting big things, of course formal rules
will be needed. The village and the United Kingdom do not need a written
constitution. India, and now this LUG do, of course.

But getting hot-headed about the lack of rules and procedures will not
help.

For one thing, it has brought so many of us, Linux-lovers together. That
is no mean achievement. I feel it all the time, since I live away from
Kol and do not have the chance to physically meet you all.

Now, this is too much. I personally barely know any of the founder
members. But I am aware that they did not start this list or the LUG out
of selfish motives.
I have been on this list long enough to have learnt that.

Members on this list have diverse tastes and priorities. What is serious
work to one maybe "blah-blah" to another. So, here's one of aims -- and
a major one -- that this list ought to pursue: get everybody to
appreciate that Linux can and is being used in many ways and for many
purposes, each very different from the other. Therefore, instead of
losing our tempers, let us educate the ignorant -- in this case
Tathagata Banerjee :-)

And finally, what Raja Guha hints about his activities has aroused my
curiosity. Would he please let us know more?
