Sourangshu, Yes.... MDK uses RPM format... most of the apps being shipped in RPM packaging, has these days the option of RHAT as well as MDK RPM packages.
As far as lilo messing up... r u sure u r loading it properly? can you let us know you partitions and what u r are using right now as the boot loader?
